When I was a much younger fellow, sometime before I went off to college, I stumbled across what I thought was an ingenious invention. I was at a floral shop that sold balloons. For an extra couple of bucks, you could attach a plastic strip of plastic to the balloon (like a thick ribbon) that, when a fingernail was run along it, would produce actual speech, amplified by the balloon. the one I tried said, “Happy Birthday.”
I couldn’t believe it. What a creative and novel device. Then, I never saw another one. Well, last month I Googled these things and found them atTalkie Tapes. I was thrilled, and soon discovered that there were more sayings available and that the voices could be amplified via paper, and cups as well as balloons.
I got a hold of a few of these and they are just as cool now as they were in the 80′s. I had to share them with you, because they could be unique attachments to a gift or card you give. Some of the sayings offered include:
• All My Love To You
• Be My Valentine
• Give Me Love
• I Love You
• I Miss You
• I’m Sorry
• Love Me Tender
…as well as plenty more.
They are sold in groups of 25 and more, ten bucks and up. You got to check these things out! Let me know if you get your hands on some. Tell me if you love them as much as I do.
